6 Most Common Objections to Doing a Boudoir Shoot

You scroll through social media looking at all these influencers or even your friends looking stunning. You’re thinking to yourself “why didn’t I get the good genes?” Truth is, its not about “good genes.” Its all about good photography!

Its all about knowing the right poses, angles, and lighting. With good photography, your feed could look just like theirs.

Social media these days is making us more self-conscious than ever. That’s why you SHOULD do a boudoir shoot! The feeling you get when you see a well done, professional photograph of yourself is indescribable.

Still not convinced? I’m going to go over the 6 objections you might be thinking right now.

1. “I’m just not photogenic.”

Umm, FALSE! No one is photogenic or not photogenic. Some people just spent time learning poses, angles, and lighting and that’s why they can always take a good selfie on the first try. A good photographer can make anyone look amazing! I promise I’ll show you that when you book a session with me.

2. “I need to lose weight.”

Why? Trust me, you are beautiful as you are. If you can’t love your body in its current state, you won’t love it no matter how much weight you lose. We aren’t meant to look like supermodels. You weren’t put on this earth to fit “beauty standards.” I’d love to be the one to help you love your body as it is. All bodies are beautiful. But if you are looking to make a transformation, nothing is stopping you from booking a second shoot when you’ve reached that goal, just like nothing is stopping you from doing this now.

3. “I’m not a model.”

Okay… cool. Neither am I or anyone else I photograph. Believe it or not, all the women you see in my portfolio are real women just like you! Real women who are posed in flattering positions in good lighting. A lot of them have the same objections you do. If they can do it, so can you!

4. “I’m too old.”

I’m sorry, I didn’t realize our worth had an expiration date. I don’t care if you’re 25 or 75 you CAN do this! Most brands showcase young women in their ads, and it seems the beauty industry cuts women off at age 40. That’s not okay! If anything, 40+ women should be celebrating their growth, wisdom, and beauty. Celebrate your accomplishments and your hardships your body has been through. You deserve it!

5. “I can’t invest into myself.”

We as women tend to be very selfless. So much so to the point we neglect ourselves. We must stop this! We were not created and put on this earth to serve everyone but ourselves. This is your life and you need to make sure you are happy.

When you give to yourself, you give to your family. A happier you mean happier kids, spouses, and family members. Your loved ones can feel your resentment. If this is something you want for yourself, you deserve to do it!

You can book a shoot far in advanced to save up, or we could set up a payment plan. Money shouldn’t be a barrier for an experience like this.

6. “What are people going to think of me?”

I’m sure you’re thinking “okay but I am going to get judged so hard for this.” Because you probably look at others posting images like this and thinking “wow who do they think they are?” or “wow they are so self-absorbed.”

One of my favorite quotes is “Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves” – Cal Jung

It makes you wonder, “why do I criticize them so hard for that? Is it because I want it but I’m too scared?” That’s my theory on it.

But ultimately, who cares what they think if it leads to your happiness? Like I said, we were not put on this earth to please others. We are here to live a life of fulfillment and happiness. So if you’re worried of what people think, I’m here to tell you that their opinions don’t matter to you!

Still worried? Well who has to know? This is a shoot for you. I only post images with signed consent. You can do this whole session and keep it 100% as a secret just for you with no room for judgment from anyone!
